Singharaja Rain ForestUNESCO nominated the Sinharaja Rain Forest in Sri Lanka as a Natural World Heritage Site in 1988. It has also been nominated by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve since 1988. This is the only low lying primary tropical rain forest in Sri Lanka and is one of the few virgin forests of the world. Green Canopy and high Bio-Diversity are the most outstanding values of the Sinharaja Forest. More than 60 % of the trees are endemic and many of them are rare.
